Does this sound like you?

Many performers assume they are the only ones experiencing these patterns.

In reality they are extremely common among ambitious individuals in demanding environments.

Take a moment to see whether any of the following feel familiar

Do you:

  • Perform well in preparation but struggle to replicate that level when pressure increases.

  • Overanalyse decisions even though you know you are capable of making them.

  • Find it difficult to switch off after work or competition and your mind keeps replaying situations.

  • Feel the pressure of expectations from colleagues, clients or teammates.

  • Question whether you are truly as capable as others believe you are.

  • Notice your confidence fluctuates depending on recent results or feedback.

  • Push yourself relentlessly but still feel like you could be operating at a higher level.

What this means:

If several of these feel familiar, you are not lacking ability.

You are likely experiencing the psychological side effects of operating in a high performance environment.

Pressure, responsibility and expectations place unique demands on the mind.

Without the right psychological skills even highly capable individuals can find their own thinking working against them.

The good news is that these skills can be developed.

What you can do about it:

This is where performance psychology becomes valuable.

Rather than hoping these patterns resolve themselves, structured psychological training will help you develop the skills required to perform with greater clarity, confidence and consistency.

If you are curious about how this could apply to your situation, the first step is a short discovery call.

Is this for me?

Just like you, most people who reach out to PSYCH-CHEK are already capable.

They are intelligent, disciplined and ambitious. They have worked hard to reach their current level whether that is in sport, medicine or law.

Yet even highly capable people experience moments where pressure interferes with their ability to perform.

They overthink decisions. They hesitate at important moments. They question their ability despite years of preparation.

These experiences are far more common than people realise.

Our work focuses on helping ambitious individuals strengthen the psychological skills required to perform consistently when the stakes are high.

While much of our background is rooted in sport, the psychological challenges faced by athletes are remarkably similar to those experienced by professionals in other demanding fields.

  • Doctors making complex clinical decisions.

  • Lawyers managing high stakes cases.

  • Athletes competing in decisive moments.

In each of these environments the same question appears.

Can you perform when it matters most?

PSYCH-CHEK exists to help answer that question with confidence.

Our Story

Edgar is a HCPC-registered Performance Psychologist with over a decade of experience working in high-performance environments.

His career has involved supporting athletes, teams and organisations across a wide range of competitive disciplines including healthcare, team sports and professional esports. His efforts have resulted in clients achieving international records, titles and over $2.25 million in performance-based revenue.

While academic training provides the theoretical foundation, the majority of Edgar’s learning has come from working directly with performers navigating pressure, expectations and the demands of elite competition.

  • Working inside competitive environments revealed something that is rarely discussed openly.

Even the most talented performers struggle psychologically at times.

Athletes who appear confident may privately question their ability.

Highly skilled professionals may experience imposter syndrome despite years of experience.

Pressure can disrupt focus, confidence and decision making in ways that many people do not fully understand.

The individuals who ultimately succeed are rarely those who avoid pressure.

They are the ones who develop the psychological skills required to operate effectively within it.

  • Performance psychology is often misunderstood.

Many people assume psychology is only relevant when something has gone wrong.

In reality the goal is much more practical.

It is about strengthening the mental skills that allow capable individuals to operate at their best when it matters most.

    • Confidence.

    • Focus.

    • Emotional control.

    • Decision making under pressure.

These are skills that can be developed just like physical strength or technical ability.

PSYCH-CHEK’s role is to help ambitious performers build those skills so their mind becomes an asset rather than an obstacle.

  • If you’re tired of:

    • Guessing whether you will perform when it matters.

    • Missing out on promotions and dream opportunities.

    • Watching your colleagues surpass you even though you have the potential.

    • Feeling exhausted doing what you once loved.

Then PSYCH-CHEK wants to work with you.

Together we will aim to improve your performance so you:

    • Get the recognition you deserve.

    • Increase your earning potential.

    • Are offered opportunities you’ve been dreaming of.

    • Feel in control in the most stressful moments.
